In 1845, Mr. D. T. Barker started
his first lumber business in the state of In 1881, Mr. Barkers’ oldest
son, Albert, became a partner in the business and expanded the company by opening the Delavan yard at the corner of 7th
and Wisconsin Streets. The yard soon became one of the largest and well known
in the State of Four years later, in 1885, Mr. Barker’s other two sons, Charles and Eugene, joined their father in business.
